Mcdowell Won’t Seek Re-Election No Candidates Have Filed For Cda City Council
City Councilman Mike McDowell isn’t running for another term on the council this fall, he announced Wednesday afternoon. He also isn’t ruling out running for his boss’s job in two years.
McDowell, 40, Kootenai County’s chief deputy assessor, said he agonized over the decision but decided it was best for his family.
There are two other council seats on the November ballot. Neither Dixie Reid nor Ron Edinger has said whether they will run again.
No one has expressed interest in running for the offices, which is a surprise, said City Clerk Susan Weathers. Candidates must file for the council positions between Sept. 28 and Oct. 10, she said.
There is no filing fee. Potential candidates must file a petition with signatures from 40 registered voters.
The City Council race is the only election on this year’s November ballot.
