Sandpoint Wins Volleyball Clash
A-1 volleyball power Sandpoint (9-0) slugged it out with A-2 power St. Maries, and the Bulldogs came away with a 15-11, 8-15, 15-7, 15-6 home win.
Amanda Tams had 19 kills, Bridget O’Dwyer 18 kills and Kim Reid 12 kills for the Lumberjacks (11-2), who led the fourth game 5-2 before wearing down.
Amy Lemm had eight kills and two aces as host Moscow (1-5, 1-8) topped Bonners Ferry 15-13, 15-11 in an Intermountain League match.
Andrea Thomas added eight assists and Angie Gibson six blocks for the Bears. The Badgers are 1-4, 2-6.
Clark Fork won all four of its matches and finished first at the Wallace Tournament.
The Wampus Cats beat second-place Priest River 10-15, 15-10, 15-10 in the day’s crucial match. Adrianna Malley of Clark Fork, and Carlyn Hughes and Christy Coyle of Priest River made the all-tournament team.
Coyle had 22 kills and four blocks, Hughes 10 kills and nine aces, and Katie Peterson 23 assists for the Spartans.
At Rathdrum, Jenny Owen had 12 kills and 22 digs, and Amber Jamison added 12 kills as visiting Lake City defeated Lakeland 15-8, 15-6, 15-13 in a non-league match.
Post Falls split matches with the host team and Eagle, and lost to Capital and Centennial at the South Idaho Invitational at Boise.
Lakeside finished sixth at the six-team Garfield-Palouse Tournament, losing its final match 16-14, 15-13 to the Colfax junior varsity.
Harmony Hammons had 21 kills and four blocks for the Knights. Genessee beat Gar-Pal for the title.

Teah Beckman’s goal late in the first half was all Coeur d’Alene could muster during a 1-all tie at Moscow.
The Vikings, 4-0-2 in the Idaho Independent League and 6-3-2 overall, beat Moscow 5-0 last week. The Bears (2-3-2, 3-3-2) tied the match on a penalty kick midway through the second half.
Jenny Wells scored twice as Sandpoint beat host West Valley 2-1 in a non-league match.
