Raymond Greening Hope, Idaho

Memorial service for Raymond W. Greening, 66, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Clark Fork (Idaho) Lutheran Church. Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Greening, who was born in Great Falls, Mont., died Sunday.

He lived in Wallace for seven years and served in the military during the Korean War. He later moved to Butte, Mont., where he worked as a master electrician for the Anaconda Mining Co. for 28 years. He retired in 1985 and moved to Hope.

He was the chairman for the Clark Fork-Hope Senior Citizens Center and was also elected to the Area 1 Advisory Council for the Area Agency on Aging. He was also appointed to the Idaho Office on Aging by Govs. Cecil Andrus and Phil Batt.

Mr. Greening was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge and the American Legion Post in Clark Fork. He was also a member of the Eagle Lodge in Butte.

Survivors include his wife, Claire, at home; two sons, Michael Greening of Butte and Robert Greening of Spokane; one daughter, Sandra Loch of Butte; one grandson and three granddaughters.

Memorials may be made to the Clark Fork-Hope Area Senior Citizen Center in Clark Fork, or the Bonner Community Hospice.

Rose Nettleton Coeur d’Alene

Graveside service for Rose M. Nettleton, 82, will be today at 3 p.m. at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene. English Funeral Chapel of Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Nettleton, who was born in Minnesota, died Tuesday.

She lived in Ritzville, Wash., from 1917 to 1925, before moving to Clarkston. She moved to Coeur d’Alene and graduated from high school in 1931.

She married Herbert Nettleton in 1934.

She was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church and served as the director of the duplicate bridge club she started in Coeur d’Alene. She also taught bridge for the 3-Cs Cancer Society.

She enjoyed music and played the violin at school, church and dances.

Survivors include her husband, at home; two daughters, Kaye Larson of Spokane and Maxine Schierman of Coeur d’Alene; one brother, B.C. Hamlin of California; one sister, Pearl Heineman of Coeur d’Alene; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Betty Gonzales Sandpoint

Memorial service for Betty J. Gonzales, 61, will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Coffelt’s Moon Chapel in Sandpoint. Coffelt Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gonzales, who was born in Park City, Utah, died Tuesday in Spokane.

She married Roy Gonzalez in Salt Lake City in 1949 and became a homemaker.

She was a gourmet cook and loved the arts, primarily oil and watercolor painting. Her family was her main focus.

Survivors include her husband, at home; two sons, Terry Gonzales of Sandpoint and Del Gonzales of Molalla, Ore.; two daughters, Betty Gonzales of Anchorage, Alaska, and Peggy Pessetto of Salt Lake City; three brothers, Ben Smith of Spokane, Bob Smith of Anchorage and Ralph Smith of Roosevelt, Utah; and eight grandchildren.

Terrie Gray Post Falls

Memorial service for Terrie Ann Gray, 38, will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls. English Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gray, who was born in Oakland, died Wednesday from breast cancer.

She graduated from Spokane Community College with an accounting degree and worked as an office manager for Dishman Dodge from 1980 to 1992. She later obtained a travel agent’s license and formed her own business. She also held a tax preparation certificate and owned her own home-based office.

She loved her family, work, traveling, camping, rafting and watching her husband fish. She also loved to read.

Survivors include her husband of 12 years, Walter; two stepchildren, Jesse and Ryan, both of Post Falls; and her father, Marvin Horn of Boise.

Ernest ‘Barney’ Johnston Spokane

Funeral Mass for Ernest L. “Barney” Johnston, 74, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Cremation will follow. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Johnston, who was born in Molson, Wash., died Tuesday.

He worked as a millwright for Long Lake Lumber Co., for more than 30 years. He and his family lived in Republic, Wash., before moving to Spokane 35 years ago.

He was a member of Assumption Parish and American Legion Post No. 80.

Mr. Johnston served in the Navy Seabees during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carolyn Johnston; two sons, Raleigh Johnston of Spokane and Dan Johnson of Idaho; two stepsons, Harold and Melvin Murphy, both of Spokane; one daughter, Ollivetta Clute of Medical Lake; two stepdaughters, Patricia Hagen of Homer, Alaska, and Carol Lilienthal of Spokane; one sister, Iris Schorn of Osoyoos, British Columbia; and numerous grandchildren, stepgrandchildren, great-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

Daniel Weidner Moscow, Idaho

Service for Daniel S. Weidner, 40, will be today at 2 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Weidner, who was born in Spokane, died Monday at Gritman Medical Center of Moscow from a heart attack.

He grew up in Priest River, Idaho, Spokane and Coeur d’Alene, graduating from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1973.

He married Gloria Patzer in Coeur d’Alene in 1977.

Mr. Weidner attended North Idaho College, Boise State University and the University of Idaho. He worked for GTE for many years and was recently the engineering supervisor for the University of Idaho Infrastructure Project.

He enjoyed the outdoors and loved hunting, fishing, and spending time at his cabin on Lake Coeur d’Alene. He also enjoyed golf, cooking, reading and spending time with family and friends.

He was a member of the Moscow Elks Club, Ducks Unlimited and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Survivors include his wife, at home; his father and stepmother, Speed and Bonnie Weidner of Cocolalla, Idaho; his mother and stepfather, Patricia and Adam Miller of Scottsdale, Ariz; two sisters, Cathy Leth of Buhl, Idaho, and Janis Campbell of Wenatchee; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

Audrey Dashiell Spokane

Service for Audrey R. Dashiell, 79, is set for 11 a.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Born in Walla Walla, Mrs. Dashiell, a 75-year Spokane resident, died Monday.

She was a homemaker and was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church.

Her husband, Oaklend Dashiell, died in 1992.

She is survived by one daughter, Charlene Parker of Springfield, Va.; two sons, Darrel and Stephen Dashiell, both of Spokane; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Ardis Marr Spokane

Vigil service for Ardis E. Marr, 64, will be at 7 p.m. today at HennesseySmith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Marr, who died Wednesday, was born in Lincoln, Neb., and had lived in Spokane for 36 years.

She was a homemaker and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Marr; two sons, Stephen Marr of Spokane, and Michael Marr of Gig Harbor, Wash.; four daughters, Teri Guszregan, Judy Marr-Guszregan, Katie Vierna and Mary Lenz, all of Spokane; one brother, Ross Graham of Bellingham; and 12 grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sister Peter Claver Endowment, in care of Sacred Heart Medical Center, or to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Allen Pierce Kasilof, Alaska

Memorial service for Allen D. Pierce, 40, will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Medical Lake Community Church.

Mr. Pierce, a former Spokane resident, died Sept. 20 in Kasilof, where he had lived for the past two years.

He was born in Vancouver, Wash., graduated from Spokane Community College and worked as a welder while in Spokane.

He is survived by one son, Nathan Pierce of Four Lakes; his parents Frank and Shirley Pierce of Medical Lake; one brother, Bill Pierce of Rockford; and one sister, Crystal Rimmey of Medical Lake.

Mary ‘Betty’ Jerred Spokane

Funeral Mass for Mary E. “Betty” Jerred, 54, was held Wednesday at Keller (Wash.) Catholic Church with burial at Keller Cemetery.

Mrs. Jerred, who died Sunday, was born in Keller.

She is survived by two sisters, Charlotte Jerred of Newport, Wash., and Sylvia Walls of Chewelah, Wash.; one brother, George Jerred Jr., of Texas; and one stepbrother, Bill Jerred of Joplin, Mo.

Warren Smith Wenatchee

Memorial service for Warren I. Smith, a former Spokane and Deer Park resident, will be at 3 p.m. Oct. 8, at Spokane Friends Church. Private inurnment will be at Wild Rose Cemetery in Deer Park. Telford’s Chapel of the Valley in East Wenatchee is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Smith, who died Monday at his son’s home in Wenatchee, was born in Powers County, Colo.

He graduated from high school in Colorado and from Asbury College in Kentucky.

He and his wife moved to Grand Coulee in 1945, from California, and he worked on Grand Coulee Dam and the Columbia Basin Irrigation Project. They also operated a grocery store and diner in Coulee Heights.

In the early 1950s they moved to Spokane and he worked as a machinist.

They purchased a diversified farm in Deer Park in 1955.

His wife, Ruth Smith, died in 1992, and last October he moved to Wenatchee.

He is survived by three sons, Dennis Smith of Glendora, Calif., David Smith of Wenatchee and Ted Smith of Soldotna, Alaska; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Amy Robertson Spokane

Memorial service for Amy E. Robertson, 95, was held Tuesday at Sherman (Wash.) Church. Burial was at Sherman Cemetery.

Mrs. Robertson died Sept. 22 in Bellevue, Wash.

She was born in Harrisonville, Mo., and lived in Spokane from 1955 until 1989, when she moved to Kirkland, Wash.

She was a homemaker and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge.

Her husband, John Robertson, died in 1989.

She is survived by one daughter, Irene Kenney of Issaquah, Wash.; one grandson, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
