New Higgens Point Boat Launch Opens

The Higgens Point boat launch, located at the end of Lake Coeur d’Alene Parkway, will be open to the public starting today.

The new $91,000 ramp replaces a narrow, dangerous 20-year-old ramp. The cost was covered by the Idaho Parks and Recreation Department and the Idaho Transportation Department.

It features a new stairway and 78 marked parking spaces, in addition to the large parking area at the end of the parkway.

Although the launch is ready, the docks are only temporarily attached to the launch site. Park officials are advising boaters to use caution.

The parks department also has cleared the parkway recreational trail of gravel and debris for people interested in in-line skating and bike riding. , DataTimes
