Spokane Man Sentenced To 5 Years For 1995 Rape

A Spokane man has been sentenced to more than five years in prison for the November 1995 rape of a 45-year-old woman.

Dwayne E. McDevitt, 34, was arrested the night of the attack after the victim called police, reporting she had been raped by a man driving a Jeep who threatened her with a handgun.

Police found McDevitt driving in the Spokane Valley a short while later and found a gun under his car seat. The victim identified McDevitt as her attacker.

Superior Court Judge James Murphy sentenced McDevitt this week to a 62-month prison term for second-degree rape.
