Two Nursing Homes Fined For Violating Care Standards

The state has fined two Spokane nursing homes for violating federal and state standards of care.

Valleycrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center was fined $3,000 for failing to provide treatment that would have helped prevent a resident’s health from deteriorating.

The fine resulted from a July 9 investigation into a complaint at the 179-bed nursing home at E. 12715 Mission.

Riverview Lutheran Care Center was fined $2,500 for failing to thoroughly investigate possible abuse of a badly bruised resident.

The fine followed a June 26 investigation into a complaint at the 75-bed home at E. 1841 Upriver Drive.

Both facilities have 20 days to appeal the fine.
