Tulane Surprises Cincinnati
Shaun King threw two touchdown passes and visiting Tulane used a balanced offense and smothering defense to beat Cincinnati 34-14 Friday in the first-ever Conference USA game.
Tulane was picked last and Cincinnati first in a a preseason poll of league coaches.

In Las Cruces, N.M., sophomore tailback Lennox Gordon ran for two touchdowns and led a New Mexico ground game that bulled its way to a win.

In Flagstaff, Ariz., Archie Amerson rushed for 183 yards and three touchdowns, and Ricky Pearsall returned two punts for scores, leading Northern Arizona.

June Henley tied the school record for career touchdowns (28) and Glen Mason set the school record for games coached (92) as the Jayhawks rolled at home in their opener.
