Wallace Miners

1995-96 record: 8-12

Coach: Dick Lilienkamp

Years coaching, record: 16, 198-151

Top returners: Heath Schillereff, 6-foot-1, junior, post/ wing; Chris Carlson, 5-7, senior, guard. Newcomers: Jake Sprute, 6-0, sophomore, forward; Josh Lavigne, 6-1, soph., p/w; Carl Grattic, 5-6, jr., g; Kevin Tesky, 5-10, jr., f/w; Dallas Basham, 5-10, jr., f.

Bonus shot: Lilienkamp needs just two victories to reach the 200-victory milestone. He is undecided on whether this will be his last year as coach.

Coach’s comment: “This could be my smallest team in 16 years. We’re going to be quick, but we have to prove that we can shoot.”

Outlook: Fairly bleak. Only two players return from last year and with no players over 6-1, it could be one of Lilienkamp’s toughest seasons. However, if the Miners prove they can shoot the ball well, it is likely they will be able to use their speed in an up-tempo offense that scores a lot of points. The test will be to stay out of a half-court game where the lack of size will come into play. , DataTimes
