Big Chill Sends North Idaho To 13-Point Defeat In The Snow

North Idaho College fell behind early, shot just 33 percent from the floor, and dropped a 79-66 decision to the Snow College Badgers in Scenic West Athletic Conference basketball play Friday night in Ephraim, Utah.

The Cardinals fell behind 14-2 in the early going. They got to within 10, 40-30, at the half despite shooting a frigid 28 percent. It was NIC’s first loss this season.

Seawn Myrick tossed in 19 points to lead NIC. Todd Myles added 10 points.

Lance Barnes topped the Badgers with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Pat McGrath scored 17 and Paul Jonas chipped in with 14 points.

NIC falls to 9-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play. Snow improves to 11-2 and 2-1.

NIC travels to St. George, Utah, to take on Dixie College tonight.

Whitworth 98, Northwest College 68

Nate Williams scored a game-high 27 points, including five 3-pointers, and Ben Heimerman scored 23 on 9-of-12 shooting and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Pirates to a lop-sided win over the Eagles in the Whitworth Invitational tournament.

Corey Symons paced Northwest with 14 points.

The Pirates outrebounded the Eagles 43-21 with Heimerman grabbing nine off the offensive glass.

Whitworth (6-1) will play Carroll (9-4) of Montana tonight at 8 in the championship game. Carroll edged Concordia (1-7) 76-74 behind the 25 points of Central Valley grad Paul Allen.
