Dariusz Michalczewski stopped France’s Christophe Girard with a left hook in the eighth round to retain his WBO light heavyweight title. The Polish-born boxer knocked Girard to the canvas in three rounds in a one-sided fight at Hannover, Germany.

At the same site, Germany’s Ralf Rocchigiani, making an easy fifth defense of his WBO cruiserweight title, pounded out a unanimous decision over overmatched Stefan Angehrn.
