NBC Sports’ coverage of the Breeders Cup races was awarded the Eclipse Award for national television Achievement. NBC also won the award for its coverage of the first Breeders’ Cup day in 1984.

The telecast from Woodbine in Toronto featured 4-1/2 hours of coverage.
