Tenacious Ducks Outlast Huskies

Associated Press

Pac-10

Oregon didn’t score a point in the final 4 minutes, but held on to beat the Washington Huskies 55-52 Thursday night at Seattle.

Bryant Boston and Mark Sanford missed 3-point tries for the Huskies in the final 3 seconds.

The Ducks (11-10 overall, 5-5 Pac-10) took a 55-46 lead with 4:09 left on Rob Ramaker’s layup.

Washington (13-6, 6-4) scored the game’s final six points, but couldn’t catch up on a cold-shooting night for both teams. Oregon shot 38 percent and Washington 35 percent.

UW’s second home loss dealt its aspirations for an NCAA Tournament berth a tough blow.

Sanford had 17 points and 11 rebounds. Leading the Ducks with 13 points each were Kyle Milling and Terik Brown.

Washington led 30-25 at halftime and the score was tied at 38-38 when the Ducks went on a 13-3 run as Brown made a 3-pointer and hit a pair of free throws for a 51-41 Oregon lead with 5:48 on the clock.
