She’s Not About To Accept Any Uncrowning Blows
Princess Diana agrees that a divorce from Prince Charles is “inevitable,” but insists that it will be “on my terms,” a British newspaper reported Monday.
According to The Daily Mirror, which quoted sources it said were Diana’s friends, she wants a clearly defined role in public life and a pledge “that I will always be treated as a princess and the mother of the future king.”
The elder of her two sons, 13-year-old Prince William, is second in line to the throne.
Said Prime Minister John Major:”It needs to be a dignified role and a worthwhile role and we will need to examine with the Princess of Wales precisely what that should be.”
Diana and Charles separated in 1992 after 11 years of marriage. Queen Elizabeth II wrote to them last month urging a quick divorce.
