Late Rally Helps Usc Knock Off Stanford

Brandon Martin scored 17 points, including a 3-pointer to give Southern California the lead with 5:52 remaining, and the Trojans (2-2 Pac-10, 9-6) went on to beat No. 24 Stanford (2-2, 8-4) 84-80 Sunday at Los Angeles.

Martin’s long-range shot was part of a 17-2 run that rallied the Trojans from a nine-point deficit to a 67-61 lead with 5:10 left. Stais Boseman had seven points and Martin six in the spurt that put the Trojans ahead.

The top-ranked Minutemen overcame the loss of star center Marcus Camby and stayed undefeated with the victory over the Bonnies (5-7) in Olean, N.Y.

Inus Norville replaced Camby at center for the tipoff, but Tyrone Weeks saw most of the action and had 15 points and 12 rebounds. Dana Dingle led Massachusetts (14-0) with 17 points and Donta Bright added 15 points.

Lorenzen Wright made four clutch free throws and scored six of his 15 points in overtime as the Tigers (3-0 Conference USA, 11-2) shrugged off its road woes and held on for the victory over the Bulls (0-3, 7-6) at Tampa, Fla.

At Chapel Hill, N.C., Antawn Jamison and Jeff McInnis each scored 17 points as the Tar Heels (3-1 Atlantic Coast Confernece, 12-3) maintained its home-court mastery of the Tigers (2-1, 11-1) with the victory.

At Syracuse, N.Y., John Wallace scored seven of his 25 points in the final 3:05 as the Orangemen (4-1 Big East, 13-2) beat the Scarlet Knights (1-3, 4-8) in the first Big East game between the teams.
