Recreation Spots Win Grants From State
The Idaho Park and Recreation board has given Farragut State Park a $175,000 grant to remodel restrooms and campsites at Snowberry recreational vehicle campground.
Other Kootenai County recreation spots will collect another $252,000 in grants from the board’s off-road motor vehicle and waterways improvement funds. Those funds are collected as a portion of the state’s gasoline tax.
The Fernan Ranger District of the Idaho Panhandle National Forests will get $23,000 to rebuild a trail to South Chilco Mountain.
Post Falls will collect $36,899 for docks and ramps a Q’emiln Park on the Spokane River. Hayden will get $48,170 for a restroom at Honeysuckle Beach.
The county waterways committee will get more than $70,000 for an aluminum work boat, boat ramp and parking area at Kidd Island Bay.
Spirit Lake will get $9,668 to repair holes in the lakebed and the county sheriff’s office will get $8,850 for surface radar equipment.
Other money will go to the Bureau of Land Management for improvements to area waterways.
