Moorer Pleads Guilty

Compiled From Wire Services

In Monessen, Pa., IBF heavyweight champion Michael Moorer agreed to plead guilty to a disorderly conduct charge and pay a $1,000 fine for his role in a fight outside a bar June 30.

The State Athletic Commission said it expected more arrests by New York City police in the wake of last week’s melee at Madison Square Garden that followed the Riddick Bowe-Andrew Golota bout.

“Of the 13 people arrested, none was licensed by the state as a cornerman or promoter,” Gwenn Lee, a commission spokeswoman, said. “But the police expect more arrests and to wrap this up in a week.”

Lee said the $5.5 million purse, which included Bowe’s $5 million, was still being held until it is determined what part either side’s camp played in the fray.
