Accident Kills Worker On New Post Falls Pool

From Staff And Wire Reports

A car accident in Oregon killed one worker and injured two others who were putting the finishing touches on the Post Falls Community Pool.

Because of the accident, the swimming pool’s grand opening that was scheduled for this weekend has been canceled.

The three workers were driving to Post Falls from Portland Monday when they were involved in an 11-car accident near Arlington, Ore., said Kevin Bettis, owner of the community pool.

The accident apparently was caused by fog.

“They’re a close-knit group there, a nice bunch of guys,” Bettis said Tuesday.

“We just feel awful bad for the families.”

The workers were scheduled to put the inner plaster liner on the pool.

They were subcontractors for Pool World, a Portland company specializing in swimming pools.

Pool World is sending out another crew next week to complete the work.

A new time for the pool’s grand opening has not been established.

The Post Falls Community Pool, owned by Bettis and physical therapist Allen Goodall, will be managed by the YMCA of the Inland Empire.
