Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: I have an interesting hint that few of your readers will ever have to use, but it worked great for me.

One afternoon, a whole container of apple juice spilled on the tile floor in my kitchen. I was getting increasingly sticky as I cleaned up the mess. Just at this inopportune moment, my 2-year-old yelled from the other end of the house that he needed help in the bathroom. But my sticky bare feet would mess up my living room carpet, as well as the insides of any shoes that I put on right then.

Suddenly, I had an idea. I grabbed two sheets of paper from my desk drawer. They stuck to my sticky feet, allowing me to glide across the carpet without any damage, and I could throw them away when I returned to the kitchen. - Denisa Engelman, Weatherford, Okla.

That’s thinking on your feet! Thanks for writing. - Heloise

Dear Heloise: I save return-address labels from family and friends and tape them into an address book. It’s so much neater and easier to read, and it also makes a great gift for someone elderly. - Pat Mirabello, Clark, N.J.
