Illinois Hires Florida’s Kruger

Florida basketball coach Lon Kruger accepted the head coaching job at the University of Illinois.

Kruger, who led the Gators to the Final Four two years ago, will succeed Lou Henson, who is retiring after 21 seasons. Sources said Kruger, 43, flew with his wife, Barbara, to Champaign, Ill., early Wednesday to interview with Illinois officials before accepting.
