Snow Sport Report

Compiled By Vince Dice

Alpine skiing

What’s an iguana? Find out at Schweitzer’s Second Annual Caribbean Carnival & Northwest Iguanafest on Saturday. The final major event of the resort’s season features reduced rates at the Green Gables Lodge and $12-20 lift tickets. Info: (208) 263-0775.

If you’ve been wanting to ski Lookout Pass all season but haven’t, you had better hurry. The ski season there ends Sunday. Snowboarders in particular may want to check it out one last time. Saturday is the Batwave Snowboard Festival, open to any snowboarder who buys a lift ticket ($18-14). Info: (208) 744-1392 or (208) 777-7701.

Stick a fork in Mt. Spokane; they are done. March 24 was their last day of operations.

Nordic skiing

Methow Valley groomed for the last time this week. Sun Mountain, Wilson Ranch and Country Inn are among the trails still open, with decent backcountry skiing up the North Cascades Highway. Info: (800) 682-5787.

Depressing, isn’t it? Mt. Spokane, Newport Ranger District and Priest Lake State Park have stopped grooming for the year.

Snowmobiling

Skiing at Lookout may be over, but snowmobiling isn’t. Sledders, mark your calenders for the Race the Face Snowmobile Hillclimb April 13-14. Info: (208) 744-1392 or (208) 777-7701.
