Flood Control To Be Discussed
People can’t control the weather, but they may be able to prevent some of the flood damage that’s battered the Silver Valley recently.
To discuss ways to reduce flooding, two groups are hosting a meeting tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Community Resource Center, 120 West Cameron Ave. in Kellogg.
Barry Rosenberg, of the Inland Empire Public Lands Council, will discuss logging and road building in the Coeur d’Alene watershed. Environmentalists say the logging work accelerates water running off the hills and causes erosion that fills in streams.
Rosenberg said the group will be offering some suggestions and seeking others. Anyone is welcome, especially people with plans to resolve the flood problems.
Also at the meeting will be a member of the Silver Valley’s “People’s Action Coalition,” which lobbies for medical and economic help for local residents. , DataTimes
