Fink, Pilcher Pace Ccs Past Everett

Brett Fink scored twice and goalkeeper Dustin Pilcher made a one-on-one save with 1 minute left Wednesday as the Community Colleges of Spokane men’s soccer team (14-3-1) beat visiting Everett 2-1 at Spokane Falls Community College.

Fink scored 1 minute into the match, on a crossing pass from Donovan Hodgson, then tallied the match-winner at 66 minutes. CCS maintained its lead in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges.

Gonzaga University goalkeeper Josh Fouts was named West Coast Conference player of the week and selected to Soccer America’s collegiate men’s team of the week after shutouts against USF and Saint Mary’s.

Volleyball

Katie Axtman served seven consecutive points in the first game and five straight in the second as CCS (8-1) beat Blue Mountain 15-9, 15-5, 15-4 at Pendleton, Ore., to preserve its lead in the NWAACC’s East Division.

Jenni Rosselli added 15 kills and four blocks for CCS, which has one league match remaining.
