Fracture Fells Childs

Chris Childs, expected to replace Derek Harper as the New York Knicks’ starting point guard, will miss the next 3-6 weeks with a non-displaced fracture in his right leg.

Childs, signed by the Knicks as a free agent during the off-season, was injured Tuesday at the team’s preseason training camp in Charleston, S.C. He averaged 12.8 points and 7.0 assists in his first year as a starter for the New Jersey Nets last season.
