She’s Famous, But Movie Fame’s Never Set In Stone

Compiled By Staff Writer Dan Web

On occasion we run stories on celebs just to run pictures of them. This is one of those times.

Sharon Stone may be no one’s version of a real actress, but she’s as close to a traditional movie star as you’ll find in today’s Hollywood.

Seems the 38-year-old Joan Crawford of her day has broken up with yet another in a seemingly endless string of male consorts (that has included at least one celebrity in Dwight Yoakam).

The latest go go was Guess? CEO Michael Bansara, whose stocky body was pictured in various tabloid papers in a beach-side romp with a nude Stone.

“I don’t think they were ever really going out,” said a Guess! spokesperson. “They are good friends.” Why would we think otherwise?

Loose talk

Cindy Crawford on her high-school blues (in the Washington Post): “We all react to fat days or when you have a zit. In high school, when I had a pimple, I would put my glasses on and walk around with a big folder in front of my face.”

His new comedy troupe is called Marty Anaconda

John Cleese turns 57 today.

Meanwhile, floods in Southeast Asia are killing millions

Since we’re peeking into bedrooms of serious celebrities (see item at left), let’s note that Isabella Rossellini and Gary Oldman seem to be on the outs. The former cosmetics pitchwoman is now being shepherded around New York by Broadway theater manager Gregory Mosher.

Next spring, look for Cindy in some cool striped suits

In trouble with the tax authorities? Try moving to Italy. On Wednesday, fashion designer Giorgio Armani was sentenced to 20 days in jail for paying $197,000 in bribes for friendly audits. In November, a similar deal won Armani a nine-month term. Both were suspended.

It gives a whole new meaning to ‘Budgie the Helicopter’

Look for Allan Starkie’s book on the Duchess of York to hit American bookstores on Nov. 7. Starkie, a friend of the duchess’ former financial adviser John Bryan, says the sexual exploits are handled “in the nicest possible way.” The duchess tried to get the book banned in Britain.

And, of course, one or two gaggles of ugly ducklings

The estate adjacent to Prince Charles’, located some 100 miles west of London, is for sale. The asking price: $7.5 million. For that price, you get 1,400 acres, six rental cottages, stables, woods and a lake with swans.

There does come a time when you just have to slow down

As he turns 60, former Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman, the father of two girls - one aged 2 years, the other 10 months - says he is accepting new limitations. “I don’t think about sex so much,” Wyman said. “Other things have become important. I threw away my address book with 700 addresses and I got a new one with about 40.”
