Hall-of-Fame jockey Chris McCarron may not need to take any time off after suffering three cracked ribs in a spill during the Jim Beam Stakes at Turfway Park on Saturday, his agent said.

“He says it doesn’t bother him all that much, and if he gets the OK, he will ride,” agent Scott McClellan said.

McCarron was thrown from the saddle when his mount, Inexcessivelygood, broke down 150 yards from the wire during a duel with eventual winner Concerto at the Florence, Ky., race track.
