Bengal Overcomes Injury

Compiled From Wire Services

Five months after a spinal injury left him initially unable to move, Cincinnati Bengals lineman Scott Brumfield has been cleared to play football again.

“His recovery appears complete,” Bengals general manager Mike Brown said. “That, for us, is a great thing to see. Some of us remember looking at him last year, wondering if he would even be able to get around for the rest of his life.”

The 6-foot-8, 320-pound Brumfield has spent months in physical therapy and rehabilitation. More recently, he was lifting weights and running at his home in Spanish Fork, Utah.

Brumfield, 26, was initially unable to move after colliding with teammate Troy Sadowski during a Nov. 3 game at Baltimore and was diagnosed with a spinal cord concussion.
