Bill Would Ban Logging On Wild Lands
Representatives from New York and Connecticut on Wednesday reintroduced a bill that would ban logging and other commercial activity over 20 million acres of public wild lands in five Western states.
The bill, establishing wilderness preserves in Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon and Washington has been introduced in each of the past six years but failed to pass the House.
Reps. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., and Chris Shays, R-Conn., are principal sponsors of the Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act, according to a press release from the Alliance for the Wild Rockies.
