New Owners Want Greenups Evicted

Associated Press

A couple who bought the repossessed ranch of anti-government activist Calvin Greenup near Darby in 1995 has asked Ravalli County District Court to order Greenup and his wife evicted.

In a complaint, Robert and Peggy Russell said they asked Greenup and his wife, Lynda, to leave the 40-acre spread by Nov. 1, 1996.

But the self-styled patriots - who owned the property until the bank foreclosed for nonpayment on the mortgage and sold it in a sheriff’s sale - have refused, the Russells alleged.

The ranch also had a lien on it because the Greenups had stopped paying state and federal income taxes.
