Ruth Keegan Sandpoint

Viewing for Ruth G. Crane Keegan, 85, will be today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint. Service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Coffelt’s Moon Chapel. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Cemetery in Sandpoint.

Mrs. Keegan died Sunday from injuries received in an automobile accident on Highway 95 near Sandpoint.

She was born in Missouri.

Mrs. Keegan graduated from high school in Montana and went on to teach school at Powder River School in Loesch, Mont. She moved to the Sandpoint area in 1937.

She had worked as a farmer and later a dietician at Bonner General Hospital for 20 years. She retired in 1974.

She was a member of the Kootenai Community Church, the Oden Busy Bees and the Pack River Thimble Club.

Her first husband, Harold Crane, died in 1989.

Survivors include her husband, Aaron; three daughters, Colleen Graves and Inez Carter, both of Coeur d’Alene, and Carroll Craig of Rathdrum, Idaho; three sons, Jim Crane of Tacoma, John Crane of Everson, and Roy Crane of Kona, Hawaii; 18 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.

Edna (LaPrath) Hurd Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Edna Angelene Fern (LaPrath) Hurd, 77, was Tuesday in Coeur d’Alene.

Mrs. Hurd died Sunday.

She was born in Nebraska and moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1937.

Mrs. Hurd opened Vogue Beauty Salon in Sandpoint in 1952 and in 1969 moved to Libby, Mont., where she operated another Vogue Beauty Salon.

She retired in 1980 and moved to Post Falls in 1992.

Survivors include her husband, John; four sons, Carl and Charles LaPrath, both of Coeur d’Alene, Chris LaPrath of Arizona and Gary Hurd of Montana; two daughters, Diane Lazelle of Post Falls and Gayle Williams of Snohomish, Wash.; a brother, Junior Adamson of Nebraska; four sisters, Ethyl Anderson and Augusta Hall, both of Nebraska, Eunice “Boopie” Stevens of Minnesota and Gladys Murry of Kansas; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Clarence Gunter Sandpoint

Service for Clarence Orvel Gunter, 89, is planned for 2 p.m. today at Coffelt’s Moon Chapel in Sandpoint. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint.

Mr. Gunter, who was born in Nebraska, died Saturday.

He moved to Cocolalla, Idaho, in 1936 and then to Sandpoint in 1937.

He had worked for the railroad, Farragut State Park, Sandpoint Taxi and Honeycutt’s Gas Station.

Mr. Gunter is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jewel; five sons, Albert, Cleadis and James Gunter, all of Sandpoint, and William and Floyd Gunter, both of Fruitland, Wash.; three daughters, Goldie Raynor of Montana, JoAnn Johnson of Garfield, Wash., and Barbara Furston of Sandpoint; three sisters, Lavina Gerkin, June Howell and Mary Mae Krause, all of Spokane; 27 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Ken Rabel Spokane

Memorial service for Ken Rabel, 68, is planned for 1 p.m. Thursday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home.

Mr. Rabel, who was born in Valleyford, Wash., died Saturday.

He served in the Army during the Korean War for two years and in 1946 began working for Barton Oldsmobile. He retired from its service department in 1989 and later worked for Crowd Management Services as a supervisor.

Mr. Rabel was a member of the Spokane Softball Association and umpired for many years. He was also a member of the Spokane Old Timers Hockey Association.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Mickey; two daughters, Ann Carey and Patty Rabel, both of Spokane; a sister, Kay Irvin of Post Falls; and a brother, George Rabel of Spokane.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Spokane Chiefs Hockey Continuing Education Fund or the American Heart Association.

Robert Wheeler Rathdrum, Idaho

Service for Robert Daniel Wheeler, 29, will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden (Idaho) Chapel. Graveside service is planned for Saturday at 11 a.m. at Hailey (Idaho) Cemetery.

Mr. Wheeler, who was born in Sun Valley, Idaho, died Sunday. He grew up in Hailey and graduated from high school in 1986. He attended the University of Idaho for a year and a half.

Mr. Wheeler had worked at Sun Valley Company as a bell captain before moving to Rathdrum in 1990.

He was co-operator of Wheeler Electric and had been a journeyman electrician since 1995.

Mr. Wheeler had served with the military reserve from 1985 until 1990 and was currently active as a Navy SeaBee.

Survivors include his wife, Robin; a son, Robert at home; his parents, Ray and Joy Wheeler of Rathdrum; two brothers, Steven Wheeler of Alberta and Dennis Wheeler of Idaho Falls; and three sisters, Eileen Mulhern of Nevada, Julia Springer of Hailey and Lari Stofel of Tennessee.

Essie Goodrick Coeur d’Alene

Graveside service for Essie C. Goodrick, 95, will be today at 1 p.m. at Forest Cemetery, Riverview Section, in Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Goodrick, who died Sunday, was born in Oklahoma.

She had lived in Washington, Idaho, California and Wyoming before settling in Coeur d’Alene in 1948.

Mrs. Goodrick had worked as a licensed practical nurse in Coeur d’Alene.

Her husband, Guy, died in 1973.

She is survived by three daughters, Eva Taylor of Coeur d’Alene, Goldie Bogar of Wyoming and Tiny Jackson of Oregon; two sisters, Nellie Vassey of Grangeville, Idaho, and Lula Reed of Stites, Idaho; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Addie Rounsville Clark Fork, Idaho

Service for Addie Mae Rounsville, 70, is planned for today at 10 a.m. at Coffelt’s Moon Chapel in Sandpoint. Graveside service will follow at Clark Fork Cemetery. Coffelt Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rounsville, who was born in Priest River, Idaho, died Saturday.

She grew up in Cabinet, Idaho, near Clark Fork.

She was a homemaker and was active in the Clark Fork Senior Citizens. She was a former member of the Clark Fork Sewing Club.

Mrs. Rounsville was a supporter of the Clark Fork Band Boosters and Clark Fork High School sports.

Her husband, Carl “Bill” Rounsville, died in 1981.

Survivors include two daughters, Nora Hoskins of Clark Fork and Mary Fletcher of Post Falls; two sons, Rusty Rounsville of Clark Fork and Jerry Rounsville of Post Falls; three sisters, Marie Ruen, Pat Derr and Georgia Gunderson, all of Clark Fork; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Donald Cantril Kendrick, Idaho

Viewing for Donald Andrew Cantril, 77, will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow, Idaho. Graveside service is set for 10 a.m. Thursday at Wild Rose Cemetery near Deary, Idaho.

Mr. Cantril, who was born in Spokane, died Sunday.

He grew up in Southwick, Idaho, near Kendrick, and later moved to California where he worked for Douglass Aircraft.

He returned to the Southwick area in the 1940s and was a farmer.

In 1968 he moved to Kendrick and worked as a carpenter for the Idaho Transportation Department. He retired in 1980.

He completed a government correspondence course and graduated from Kendrick High School in the 1970s.

Mr. Cantril was an honorary member of and volunteer at the Kendrick Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Survivors include his wife, Ula; a daughter, Sandra Mabbot of Medical Lake; two sons, Ed Reid of St. Maries and Mark Reid of Juliaetta, Idaho; a sister, Thelma Colwell of Lewiston; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-greatgrandchild.

Dennis Rogers Spokane

Private family service for Dennis L. Rogers, 48, will be held. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements and cremation.

Born in Clark Fork, Idaho, Mr. Rogers died Saturday.

He worked as a woodsman in the lumber industry.

He was a longtime Spokane resident and was a member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians.

Survivors include his wife, Julie Green; three sons, Joseph Rogers of Wenatchee, and Steven and Chad Rogers, both of Spokane; two stepsons, James and Robert Bond, both of Ellensburg; a sister, Geraldine Kennedy of Plummer, Idaho; two half-sisters, Judy Blum of Cle Elum, Wash., and Donna Offill of Entiat, Wash.; a half-brother, Gary Fuller of Cle Elum; and four grandchildren.

Boyd Roberts Moscow, Idaho

Graveside service for Boyd Gilbert Roberts, 80, will be at 11 a.m. today at the Moscow Cemetery. Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Roberts, who was born near Colfax, Wash., died Monday.

He graduated from high school in Steptoe, Wash., and worked as a farm laborer.

Mr. Roberts served with the Army as a baker and cook with the field artillery infantry division during World War II in Kodiak Island, Alaska, and Europe.

He returned to the Colfax area after his military service and worked at Sutherland Pea Processing Plant and as a cement truck driver.

In 1949 he moved to Moscow and worked as a heavy equipment operator for Commercial Builders for 25 years. He also worked for Arneberg Excavating. He retired in 1971.

Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dorothy; a daughter, Kristin Compton of Boise; a son, Greg Roberts of Texas; and three grandchildren.

Sally Sauer Smelterville, Idaho

Memorial service for Sally Ann Sauer, 62, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel. Shoshone Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sauer, who was born in South Dakota, died July 30.

She grew up in South Dakota before moving to North Idaho.

Mrs. Sauer was a homemaker and a longtime Silver Valley resident.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda McKahan of Montana; a son, Donald Sauer of Osburn, Idaho; and four grandchildren, Shawn, Jamie, Kyle and Katie.

Lloyd Revelle Spokane

Graveside burial of the urn for Lloyd V. Revelle, 81, will be at 11 a.m. today at Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Revelle, who was born in Powell, Wyo., died July 27.

He rode the rodeo circuit as a bull rider and later worked in the printing and plumbing industry.

He has been a Spokane resident for more than 20 years.

Mr. Revelle was a member of the Inland Empire Deaf Association, Eastern Washington Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and Faith Lutheran Church of the Deaf.

His wife Helen Revelle, died in 1981.

Survivors include three stepsons, William Hood of Wallace, Ron Hood of Spokane and Bob Hood of Indiana; three stepdaughters, Mildred Hodges of Indiana, Rose Ciechanowski of Oregon and Judy Kaddoura of Seattle; and a brother, Clifford Revelle of Lovell, Wyo.

John Wing Spokane

Service for John C. Wing, 80, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mica Peak Cemetery near Rockford.

Born in Rockford, Mr. Wing died Sunday.

He was a longtime Spokane resident and worked as a truck driver, delivering farm feed.

Mr. Wing is survived by three sons, Jerry Wing of Nine Mile Falls, Larry Wing of Spokane and John Wing of Deer Park; four daughters, Dolores Bollman and Janet Wing-Popoff, both of Spokane, Donna Johnson of Medical Lake and Valerie Wing of Otis Orchards; two sisters, Elga Young of Lewiston and Helen Cohorn of Chattaroy; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Keith Durant Chewelah, Wash.

Visitation for Keith E. Durant, 66, will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at the Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Spokane Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Durant, who was born in Everett, died Sunday.

He retired from Union Pacific Railroad in 1988 after 36 years. He was a trainmaster for Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho.

He was a 36-year Spokane resident and was a member of the Orchard Masonic Lodge 200, Eagles Lodge No. 2, Elks Lodge No. 228 and the Union Pacific Employees Club in Spokane and Walla Walla.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jeanette; two daughters, Karen Forsberg of Chewelah and Kathy Whiteman of Spokane; and four grandsons.
