Fred Jones Newport, Wash.

Memorial service for Fred D. Jones, 90, will be at 1 p.m. today at the Newport Masonic Temple. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport is in charge of the arrangements.

Born in Spokane, Mr. Jones died Aug. 19.

He was an instructor in the Boeing Fortress School and in various other areas of the Boeing Co.

He married Evelyn Greenwood in 1941.

His memberships included the Masonic Lodge and the El Katif Flying Patrol. He was one of the founders of the Newport Lions Club and had served as the district governor for the Lions Club.

He helped found Chapter 757 of the Experimental Aircraft Association in the Newport and Priest River, Idaho, area.

He was active with the White Cane Program and the Shrine Circus.

His wife died in 1981.

Mr. Jones is survived by a son, David Jones; a brother, Andrew Jones; a sister, Dorothy; three grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lorena White Pullman

Service for Lorena V. White, 88, is set for 11 a.m. today at Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman. Vault burial will follow at Pullman Cemetery.

Born in Washington state, Mrs. White died Sunday.

She graduated from Johnson High School in 1927 and from Lewiston State Normal School in 1930 with a teaching degree.

Mrs. White taught in the public school system in Idaho for nine years.

In 1941 she moved to Spokane and worked as a riveter during World War II at Galena Air Depot.

She married Fred White in Pullman in 1943. They moved to Wallace for a few years and in 1948 returned to Pullman.

Mrs. White worked in restaurants.

She was a member of the Women of the Moose and the Pullman Senior Center.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Shirley Bartelle of Moses Lake; a sister, Erma Wood of Boville, Idaho; and two grandchildren.

Jean Stumpf Chewelah, Wash.

Memorial service for Jean D. Stumpf, 87, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Chewelah.

Born in Trail, British Columbia, Mrs. Stumpf died Saturday.

She moved to Chewelah in 1953 and farmed until 1971.

She helped to start the Chewelah Food Bank and was a member of the United Church of Christ.

Her husband, Al, died in 1978.

She is survived by a son, Jerry Stumpf of Chewelah; two daughters, Patty Girt of Deer Park and Gayle Hitch of Chewelah; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Diana Baker Spokane

A memorial gathering for Diana Norma Baker, 71, was Sunday.

Mrs. Baker, who was born in Poona, India, died last Wednesday.

She was formerly of London and had resided in Spokane since 1946.

She and her husband were the former owners of the Lorenda Motel.

Survivors include four children, four sisters, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane.

Dorothy Gump Spokane

Visitation for Dorothy Lou Gump, 71, will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pines Cemetery.

Mrs. Gump, who was born in Douthards Creek, W.Va., died Sunday.

She was a homemaker and was a member of the Valley Methodist Church, Valley Garden Club, Gardeners of Spokane and the Spokane Dahlia Society.

Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Donald; two sons, Wallace and David Gump, both at home; a sister, Genevieve of West Virginia; and three brothers, Raymond Alderman of West Virginia, Guy Alderman of Thornton, Wash., and Lacy Alderman of Spokane.

Memorial contributions may be made to Spokane Valley United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

Morgan Hartman Spokane

Memorial service for Morgan E. Hartman, 81, will be at 1 p.m. today at the Veterans Hospital Memorial Chapel. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Hartman, who was born in Bennettville, Minn., died Friday.

He served in the Air Force and retired in 1962 after 20 years. He was a 39-year Spokane resident.

He was a member of the Inland Empire Chapter of Prisoners of War.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Irmgard; two sons, Clyde Hartman of Spokane and Fred Hartman of Omaha, Neb.; a brother, Zane Hartman of California City, Calif.; a sister, Beverly Johnson of Morongo Valley, Calif., and three grandchildren.

Samuel Evans Spokane

Graveside service for Samuel Evans, 53, was Monday at the Pines Mausoleum at the Pines Cemetery.

Mr. Evans, who was born in Ohio, died Thursday.

He served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He later worked for Fiber Tech Industries for 27 years.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia; three daughters, Shari Howell of Tacoma, and Lynnette and Helen Evans, both of Spokane; a son, Robert Spencer of San Diego; a brother, Kenneth Evans Jr. of Dayton, Ohio; and three grandchildren.

Bessie Reasor Pinehurst, Idaho

Memorial service for Bessie Marie Reasor, 76, is set for 11 a.m. Thursday at the United Church of Kellogg. Inurnment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Kellogg. Shoshone Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Reasor, who was born in Sandpoint, died Monday.

She moved to the Silver Valley in 1928 from Kansas and was a mother and homemaker.

Mrs. Reasor was a member of the United Church of Kellogg.

Her husband, Calvin, died in 1993.

Survivors include three daughters, Tina Hojem of Pinehurst, Julie Head of Kellogg, and Cathy James of Columbus, Mont.; two brothers, Kenneth Rieken of Union Gap, Wash., and Jerry Rieken of Kellogg; a sister, JoAnn Schonewald of Smelterville, Idaho; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Fay Hergesheimer Arden, Wash.

Service for Fay B. Hergesheimer, 90, is planned for 1 p.m. Thursday at the Cedonia (Wash.) Community Church. Graveside service will follow at the Cedonia Cemetery. Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Cedonia, Wash., Mr. Hergesheimer died Sunday.

He was a 1926 graduate of Hunters (Wash.) High School.

In 1940 he married Catherine Fay in Spokane. Together they operated a dairy farm near Cedonia and retired in 1972.

They moved to Arden in 1981.

Mr. Hergesheimer was a member of the Greenwood Park Grange and the Cedonia Community Church.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Darlene McNaughton of Desert Hot Springs, Calif.; four sons, Darrell Hergesheimer of Dixie, Wash., Gale Hergesheimer of Cedonia, Dean Hergesheimer of Vancouver, Wash., and Dorlan Hergesheimer of Lewiston; a brother, Neil Hergesheimer of Cedonia; a sister, Inez Hamblin of Spokane; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Nellie Kelson Coeur d’Alene

Graveside service for Nellie Ann Kelson, 89, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Bonners Ferry, Mrs. Kelson died Sunday.

She moved to Bonners Ferry in 1946 and to Coeur d’Alene in 1978.

Mrs. Kelson was a homemaker and a member of the Bonners Ferry Eagles Lodge.

Her husband, Charles Kelson, died in 1987.

Survivors include three daughters, Norma Davidson of Coeur d’Alene, Dorothy Riekena of Bonners Ferry and Janet Krogseth of Liberty Lake; two stepsons, Raymond and Phillip Kelson, both of Oregon; a stepdaughter, Pauline Hibbard of New York; a sister, Thelma Garrison of Libby, Mont.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Norman Flamoe Spokane

Service for Norman E. Flamoe, 95, is set for 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Genesee (Idaho) Valley Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Flamoe, who was born in Lewis County, Idaho, died Sunday.

He worked as a wheat farmer for more than 50 years. He later did maintenance work at a nursing home in Spokane.

Mr. Flamoe was a 39-year Spokane resident and was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church.

His wife, Violet, died in 1983.

Survivors include a son, Duane Flamoe of Spokane; a brother, Leonard Flamoe of Seattle; a sister, Helen Sneve of Sunnyside, Wash., and two grandchildren.

Carl Fagan Otis Orchards

Memorial service for Carl F. Fagan, 74, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Otis Orchards. Interment will follow at a later date at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wash. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Fagan, who was a lifetime resident of Spokane, died Thursday.

He served in the Army during World War II. He later worked as a bricklayer until his retirement in 1985.

Survivors include two sisters, Mary Lou Dean and Patricia Gerhard, both of Spokane; and a brother, James Fagan of Spokane.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Russell Oliver Sandpoint

Service for Russell W. Oliver, 84, will be at 11 a.m. today at Coffelt’s Moon Chapel in Sandpoint. Mr. Oliver, who was born in Colburn, Idaho, died Friday.

He grew up and attended school in Colburn and had worked as a logging contractor and built roads for sawmills.

Mr. Oliver also worked clearing trees for Bonneville Power Co., and Washington Water Power.

He later moved to Sandpoint and was a member of the Sandpoint Elks and Eagles lodges.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Ruth; a daughter, Luella Madsen, and a son, Glen Oliver, both of Sandpoint; a sister, Ruth Green of Colburn; a brother, Roy Oliver of Spokane; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Daniel McKelvey Sr. Beaver, Pa.

Memorial service for Daniel E. McKelvey Sr., 71, was Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Beaver. J.T. Anderson Jr. and Son Funeral Home in Beaver was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. McKelvey, who was born in Freedom, Pa., died Friday.

He served in the Army from 1945 to 1955 and toured with medic teams during the Korean War.

He later worked with the Equitable Life Assurance Society. He was a district manager in Beaver, Stubenville, Ohio, and Chester, W.Va. He later served as an agency manager in Spokane and retired in 1981.

Mr. McKelvey was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Beaver, the St. James Masonic Lodge No. 457 in Beaver, the Rochester Lions Club, the El Katif Temple in Spokane and American Society of Certified Life Underwriters and Certified Financial Consultants in Spokane.

Survivors include his wife, Dee; a son, Daniel McKelvey Jr. of Bellevue, Wash.; a daughter, Maureen Booth of Emsworth, England; a brother, Raymond McKelvey of Schaumburg, Ill.; four sisters, Joanne and Muriel Owens, both of Statesville, N.C., Lois Myers of Plant City, Fla., and Marlene Dennis of Beaver; and two granddaughters.
