Charles Killin III Davenport, Wash.
Service for Charles Carr Killin III, 61, will be at 1 p.m. today at Strate Funeral Home in Davenport. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Davenport.
Mr. Killin, who died Friday, was born in Spokane.
He retired as a captain from the Air Force and worked as a lawyer in both Spokane and Davenport.
Mr. Killin was also a former Davenport mayor.
He was a member of the Washington State Bar Association, Boy Scouts of America, Masonic Lodge, El Katif Shrine and Spokane Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Lisbeth; three sons, Frank and Kenneth Killin, both of Davenport and Charles Killin IV of Puyallup, Wash.; two sisters, Debbie Gibson of Boulder, Colo., and Sue Jarvas of Corvallis, Ore.; and two grandsons.
Molly Camp Colfax, Wash.
Service for Molly Camp, 92, is planned for 11 a.m. today at Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax. Burial will follow at the Lacrosse (Wash.) Cemetery.
Mrs. Camp, who was born in Lacrosse, died Friday.
She graduated in 1924 from Lacrosse High School and married Ralph Camp in Lacrosse that same year. They worked together on the Camp family farm.
Mrs. Camp was a member of the Lacrosse United Methodist Church, the Emerald Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Ladies Reading Club and Farm Club.
Her husband died in 1972.
Survivors include a son, Gene Camp of Green Valley, Ariz.; two brothers, Byron Benner of Walla Walla and Jack Benner of San Francisco; three sisters, Bonnie Kroll and Audrey Struble, both of Walnut Creek, Calif., and JoyDean Perdew of Alta Loma, Calif.; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Loretta Perry Spokane
Visitation for Loretta Perry, 62, will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Service is set for 2 p.m. Friday at Audubon United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Mrs. Perry, a 37-year Spokane resident, died Sunday.
She was born in Williston, N.D., and retired from Ziegler Lumber in 1996.
Her first husband, Fred Hayward, died in 1978.
She is survived by her husband, Donald; four daughters, Bette Burnley and Teresa Saywers, both of Spokane, Becky Reedy of San Diego and Laura Fisher of Mount Vernon, Wash.; a son, Jim Hayward of Iceland; four stepdaughters, Debbie Feis of Mount Vernon, Jean Memmont and Robin Smith, both of Spokane and Penny Baine of Usk, Wash.; a stepson, Jimmie Perry of Spokane; four sisters, Cora Hagen of Blair, Neb., Mariann Jacobson of LaMoure, N.D., Shirley Smith of Westminster, Colo., and Janette Nelson of Sitka, Alaska; a brother, Carlton Haugen of Elbert, Colo.; 27 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Emma Kulm Milwaukie, Ore.
Service for Emma Kulm, 88, will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park. There will be private burial. Stehn’s Milwaukie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A former Spokane resident, Mrs. Kulm died Saturday.
She was was born in Cunningham, Wash.
In 1927 she married Matt Kulm in American Falls, Idaho.
She took care of the family farm in the Spokane area and also worked in juvenile care for Spokane County Social Services for 17 years. She retired in the early 1970s.
She moved to Milwaukie seven years ago.
Mrs. Kulm was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Spokane and the Washington State Grange in Cheney.
Her husband died in 1982.
Survivors include two sons, Harold Kulm of Milwaukie and Calvin Kulm of Yuma, Ariz.; two sisters, Pauline Niewert of Burley, Idaho, and Rachel Schaeffer of King Hill, Idaho; two brothers, Dan Koch of Spokane and Paul Koch of Quartzite, Ariz.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Anna Klooz Spokane
Service for Anna Marie Klooz, 89, will be at 10 a.m. today at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Klooz, a 53-year Spokane resident, died Saturday.
She was born in Eureka, S.D., and moved to Spokane in 1944.
Mrs. Klooz worked for Galena Air Depot during World War II and then she and her husband operated the Hi-Way Cafe in Dishman for several years.
She then worked for the Brownie Baking Co. for many years until her retirement in the early 1970s.
Mrs. Klooz was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
Her husband of 59 years, Edwin, died in 1987.
She is survived by two daughters, Mavis Michael and Coty Schutz, both of Spokane; two sisters, Tillie Becker and Esther Gabriel, both of Spokane; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Lloyd Mascher Spokane
Service for Lloyd A. Mascher, 80, is planned for 11 a.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Mr. Mascher, who was born in Banner, Wyo., died Friday.
He served in the Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
Mr. Mascher worked as a tire re-treader for Goodyear Tire Co. in Sheridan, Wyo. He was transferred to the Spokane area and retired after 30 years.
He was a 40-year Spokane resident and was a member of the Hillyard Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1474, the Military Order of the Cooties and the Spokane Moose Lodge 161.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lilly; a son, Douglas Mascher of Seattle; three sisters, Marie Jennings, Vera Tanner and Jennie Shields; and two brothers, Lester and Wilbur Mascher.
Ida Kenney Spokane
Visitation for Ida M. Kenney, 82, will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow.
Mrs. Kenney, who was born in Charlotte, N.C., died Saturday.
She worked as a telephone operator for Sacred Heart Medical Center and lived in Spokane for 33 years.
Mrs. Kenney was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and the Pope John Society.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph; two daughters, Billie Webb of Portland and Barbara Nicholson of Charlotte, N.C.
Dorothy Ebeling Spokane
Funeral Mass for Dorothy M. Ebeling, 80, will be at 10 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Ebeling, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Friday.
She worked as an insurance underwriter.
Mrs. Ebeling was a member of Altrusa, Salvation Army Auxiliary, Ladies Kiwanis, Beta Sigma Phi and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Her husband, Carl, died in 1977.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Dunne of Spokane; and two grandchildren.
Margaret Trujillo Spokane
Memorial service for Margaret Trujillo, 37, will be at 11 a.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Trujillo, who was born in Baltimore, died Friday.
She was a homemaker and lived in Spokane for 10 years.
Survivors include a son, Manuel Trujillo of Spokane; her mother, Kathy McAteer of Spokane; a brother, Thomas McAteer of Chattaroy; and two sisters, Maudie Banks of Addy, Wash., and Jean McDow of Spokane.
Helen Wilson Spokane
Private service was held for Helen Louise Wilson, 88.
Mrs. Wilson, who died Dec. 23, was a lifetime resident of Spokane.
She retired after many years with Old National Bank.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Fusting of Vista, Calif.; a sister, May Wilson of Moses Lake; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Anthony Giammona Spokane
Funeral Mass for Anthony J. Giammona, 65, was Monday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Entombment followed at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Mr. Giammona, who died Wednesday, was born in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Mr. Giammona moved to Spokane in 1952 and was a member of St. Anthony’s Parish.
He retired from the Air Force after 25 years and worked for the secretarial department at city hall for 15 years.
His wife, Rose, died in 1996.
Survivors include two sons, Anthony Giammona Jr. of Spokane and Carmine Giammona of New Jersey; two daughters, Katherine Skelton of Spokane and Debra Giammona of LaJolla, Calif.; a sister, Phyllis Graham of Port Jefferson, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren.
Lavina Carle Moscow, Idaho
Service for Lavina M. Carle, 86, was Monday at Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow. Burial was at Moscow Cemetery.
Miss Carle died Friday.
She was born in Moscow and graduated from Moscow High School.
Miss Carle went to work for Fonks Department Store in 1929 and later became the manager.
In 1977 she moved to Colville, Wash., to manage the Fonks store there. She eventually retired and moved back to Moscow.
Miss Carle was a member of the Methodist Church in Moscow.
Survivors include three cousins, Gerald Hagedorn of Moscow, Donald Hagedorn of Wisconsin and Lavine Smith of Portland.
Virginia Hattamer Spokane
Memorial service for Virginia Hattamer, 79, was Saturday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hattamer, who was born in Durand, Wis., died Dec. 24.
She was a Spokane resident since 1940 and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Hattamer was a member of St. Aloysius Parish.
Her husband, Clarence Hattamer, died in June.
Survivors include two sons, Michael and Larry Hattamer, both of Spokane; three daughters, Shirley Sharp of Pocatello, Idaho, and Leigh Duplanti and Jinny Lunzer, both of Spokane; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Samuel Sterritt Spokane
No service will be held for Samuel E. Sterritt, 86, at his request. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Sterritt, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Saturday.
He worked for Western Soap Company for more than 48 years and was a Golden Eagle member of the Eagles Lodge No. 2.
Survivors include a daughter, Wilma Conrad of Somersworth, N.H.; a brother, George Sterritt of Spokane; a granddaughter and three great-grandchildren.
Ervin Veltri Spokane
Funeral Mass for Ervin M. Veltri, 68, was Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery in Priest River, Idaho.
Mr. Veltri, a 47-year Spokane resident, died Dec. 19.
He was born in Priest River and began his career as a painter. Mr. Veltri later became a home building contractor.
He was a member of the grange and the Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Janet; two daughters, Myrna Bos and Judy Shillam, both of Colbert; and eight grandchildren.
John Erickson Libby, Mont.
Private burial for John A. Erickson, 97, was held at Spokane Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Erickson, who was born in Grand Forks, N.D., died Saturday.
He farmed in Spokane and worked as a carpenter.
Mr. Erickson moved to Libby three years ago.
His wife, Margaret, preceded him in death.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Linda Kenderesi of Snohomish, Wash., and Terri Brown of Seattle.
Ione deWitt Orem, Utah
Service for Ione Mae deWitt, 77, was Dec. 20 in Orem.
Mrs. deWitt, a former Spokane resident, died Dec. 16.
She was born in Marysvale, Utah.
She graduated from high school in Southern California and then lived in Western Samoa and Arizona and moved to Spokane in the early 1980s.
Mrs. deWitt was an office worker until her retirement prior to moving to Spokane.
She moved to Orem four years ago and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Her husband, Robert, died in 1989.
She is survived by two daughters, Lani Gallaugher of Pasco and Glenda Busby of Tomah, Wis.; a son, Bob deWitt of Orem; two sisters, Sammy White and Evelyn McCray, both of Spokane; two brothers Dee Black of Spokane and Don Black of Los Angeles; and numerous grandchildren.
Esther Kagey Spokane
Service for Esther E. Kagey, 96, was Monday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Private burial was at the Hillsdale Cemetery in Blaine, Wash.
Mrs. Kagey, an 11-year Spokane resident, died Friday.
She was born in Bellingham and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Kagey was a member of Country Homes Christian Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Marcelline Peterson of Spokane; a son, Marlin Kagey of Edmonds, Wash.; nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Edwin Ladwig Davenport, Wash.
Service for Edwin B. Ladwig, 63, was Monday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Almira, Wash. Burial followed at Wilbur (Wash.) Cemetery.
Mr. Ladwig, who was born in Spokane, died Thursday.
He graduated in 1952 from Almira High School.
In 1956 he married Helen Carden.
He worked as a farmer and took over the family farm in 1962.
Mr. Ladwig was a member and Elder of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and a past master of the Wheat Ridge Grange.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Steven Ladwig of Almira; three daughters, Linda Visness of Republic, Wash., Nancy Sanderson of Cascade, Mont., and Clara Pearson of Prosser, Wash.; two sisters, Millie Plockelman of Puyallup, Wash., and Darlene Schwartzenberger of Spokane; five grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
Bernice Drury Spokane
Service for Bernice E. Drury, 83, was Monday at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Mrs. Drury, who died Thursday, was a lifetime Spokane resident.
She graduated in 1932 from North Central High School.
Mrs. Drury was a homemaker and an original member of Audubon Park United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, David Drury of Nine Mile Falls and Carey Drury of Deer Park; a daughter, Barbara Johnston of Spokane; a sister, Edith Ranurm of Edmonds, Wash.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Floyd Pyles Spokane
Graveside service for Floyd Vance Pyles, 78, was Monday at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Mr. Pyles, who was born in German Township, Ohio, died Wednesday.
He graduated from Scio (Ohio) High School in 1938 and moved to Spokane that same year.
He served in the Army.
Mr. Pyles worked for Custom Masonry as a bricklayer.
Survivors include two sons, William Pyles of Los Angeles and James Pyles of Seattle; and a sister, Bernice Moore of Scio, Ohio.
Jessie Edwards Spokane
A memorial gathering for Jessie J. Edwards, 89, was Monday at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 51.
Mrs. Edwards, a 47-year Spokane resident, died Friday.
She was born in Savage, Mont., and worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for The Crescent department store.
Mrs. Edwards was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 51 Ladies Auxiliary.
Her husband of 47 years, Walter, died in 1976.
She is survived by a brother, William Skinner of Mesa, Ariz.
