Arrest In Slaying; Billboard Asked Leads
Police on Friday arrested a 40-year-old man in a 1996 slaying that had prompted the victim’s family to erect a billboard seeking leads.
Police spokeswoman Christie-Lynn Bonner said the man was arrested in the Pioneer Square area and booked for investigation of homicide in the stabbing death of Rigel Jones, 24, the son of a Fire Department officer.
Jones was killed in the Pioneer Square area last Feb. 4. He was out with a girlfriend when they became separated in a crowd. He later was found dead next to his truck in a parking lot.
His family later put up a billboard at the scene, seeking information that would lead to an arrest. There was no immediate word on whether the billboard generated any useful information.
