Gov. Phil Batt says he is solidly behind the Air Force’s latest proposal to expand the southwestern Idaho training areas used by Mountain Home Air Force Base.

“I’m very much in support of this,” the governor said Tuesday. Air Force officials explained the latest Enhanced Training Idaho proposals to the House Transportation and Defense Committee at the Statehouse.

Col. Billy Richey, director of staff for the training range proposal, said the new arrangement is designed to minimize noise problems.
