Outfitter Sentenced For Hunting Violations

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Lenore outfitter has been sentenced to six months behind bars and nearly $6,000 in penalties for illegally transporting wildlife, U.S. Attorney Betty Richardson says.

Gordon Earl Frost, 57, also was handed four months of home detention by U.S. Chief Magistrate Mikel Williams after he pleaded guilty to three counts of violating the Lacey Act.

Frost owned Warm Springs Outfitters, which conducted hunts in the Clearwater National Forest. Between 1991 and 1993, he outfitted 13 hunts for deer, elk and bear. The clients were Seminole tribal members.

The game was killed in violation of various state laws, including taking animals without a license and transferring tags.

Williams ordered Frost to reimburse the Idaho Department of Fish and Game $4,350 and pay a $1,500 fine.

Twenty-two other people, including clients and Frost’s guides, also were prosecuted in state and federal courts on game laws. They were assessed combined fines of more than $16,000 and 38 years worth of probation.
