Measure Extends Driving Hours For Teens

If a bill approved for introduction Wednesday becomes law, youthful drivers will have more time to operate a vehicle during the winter.

Rep. Dave Bivens, R-Meridian, sponsored a bill allowing drivers whose licenses are restricted to daylight hours only to drive from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. during winter hours.

State laws allow 15-year-olds to drive during daylight hours only. Bivens said many are involved in school activities, with a need to drive to and from those activities.
