Eric Wynalda, the United States’ leading career scorer in soccer, will have surgery today to correct a chronic groin injury and will be out 6-8 weeks, his agent and the San Jose Clash said.

Wynalda was scheduled to start for the Western Conference in Wednesday’s Major League Soccer All-Star Game, but will have to be replaced.
