Sauce From The Wild Side

B-Mans barbecue sauce bills itself as “the sauce with an attitude.”

In fact, “attitude” is listed right there at the end of the ingredients, after bourbon, dried chilies, chopped garlic and salt.

The thinnish, smoky-sweet, spicy sauce is the creation of Spokane’s Brian Hershey, whose answering machine displays at least as much attitude as his product. He even includes his telephone number on the label, in case customers want recipe ideas.

And as a bonus, he says: “I get invited to a lot of parties.”

Price: $3.85 for 16 ounces.

Available: In Spokane at selected Rosauers supermarkets, Super 1 Foods, the Valley Huckleberry’s Fresh Market and Harry O’s Fresh Market.
