Rescued Orphan On Way To Idaho

Associated Press

Mike and Dianne Carnell’s adoptive daughter will be on the way to Idaho soon after taking an unexpected trip from war-torn Sierra Leone to Guinea in West Africa.

The daughter they have prayed and waited for will be on a flight headed for Boise in a couple of weeks.

Four-year-old Fatou and five other orphans rescued earlier this month have received permission to enter the United States where adoptive families await.

The Carnells have prepared for her arrival for more than a year. Their dream of adopting an African girl suddenly was put on hold, however, by a May 25 coup in Sierra Leone.

Since the military coup, the Carnells have been on the phone around the clock trying to get Fatou home.

Fatou and the 17 other orphans airlifted out were taken to neighboring Guinea.
