Rough road ahead: The bill that would be used to raise $394 million to fix Highway 95 passed the House this week on a 45-24 vote. The only North Idaho representative who voted against the bill was Rep. Jim Stoicheff, D-Sandpoint. The bill still has to pass the Senate and the governor’s approval.

Never hold a judge: A bill that would grant North Idaho another District Court judge passed the house on Thursday on a 67-1 vote. If the governor signs the bill, the judge will take office at the beginning of the year. All North Idaho lawmakers voted in favor of the bill.

The House Revenue and Taxation Committee voted 10-8 to pass a bill that would allow parents of children in private schools to use the money they spend on taxes to public schools to be used toward their private school tuition. Reps. Hilde Kellogg and Jim Clark, R-Hayden voted in favor of the bill. Reps. Larry Watson, D-Wallace, and Chuck Cuddy, D-Orofino, voted against it.
