Bean Casserole Ok; Mom Could Do Better

Rick Bonino Food Editor

In the old days, people used to do more things for themselves cut their own hair, change their own oil, make their own green bean casserole.

Thanks to Green Giant, there’s now a frozen version of that venerable holiday classic that cooks up in less than 10 minutes in the microwave. The Spokesman-Review’s reader food panel found it decent, although some members had a hard time adjusting to the texture of frozen versus canned beans, and others thought the french-fried onion topping was too mushy.

But just think - in the time you save, you can slip in some 10W40 for spring.
