Three Suspects Sought In Stabbing Cda Man In Fair Condition After Attack In Store’s Parking Lot
Coeur d’Alene police are looking for the person who stabbed a man in the back and neck Wednesday night.
Kip R. Richardson, 24, of Coeur d’Alene, was rushed to the hospital with multiple stab wounds he suffered during the fight.
His condition was upgraded from critical to fair Thursday.
About 10 p.m. Wednesday, Richardson and his girlfriend, Jennie McMahon, drove to the Taj grocery store on 15th Street to pick up a few items.
They pulled into the parking lot about three stalls away from another car, according to a Coeur d’Alene police report. Two men and a woman were in the car.
As the driver of that car stepped out of his vehicle, Richardson noticed a baseball bat lying on the front seat.
“Oh, cool, they’re carrying a bat,” Richardson told his girlfriend, according to the police report.
“Don’t say anything - just forget it,” McMahon told him before getting out of the car and going into the store while her boyfriend stayed behind.
Inside the store, McMahon waited in line to purchase her items behind the driver who had stepped out of the other car.
While she was making her purchase, she heard a woman scream. She looked outside and saw her boyfriend and the second man in the other car fighting over the baseball bat, according to the police report.
Both men had hold of the bat and were trying to pull it away from the other. The driver of the other car then joined in the fight, hitting Richardson in the head with his fists, according to the police report.
All three fell to the ground and McMahon yelled for someone to call the police.
Then the suspects got up, ran to their car and jumped in. One man had blood smeared on his face and splattered on his white shirt, according to the report. The other woman also jumped in the car, and they drove south on 15th Street.
Richardson walked into the grocery store, pale and covered with blood.
“I’ve been stabbed,” he kept saying.
He then lay down on the sidewalk until police and medical help arrived. He was found in a large pool of blood, according to the report.
Richardson was rushed into emergency surgery for internal bleeding.
Police Capt. Carl Bergh said officers have several leads and are pursuing information given to them by the public.
The suspects are believed to have been driving a light-colored compact car.
The driver is described as a slender white man, 18 to 20 years old, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall. He had short blond hair, spiked on the top and shaved on the sides.
The second suspect is described as a Hispanic man between 18 and 20 years old with black hair and a cross tattoo on his upper left arm.
The woman who was with them is described as an 18- to 20-year-old Hispanic female with straight dark hair.
Any one with information about the case is asked to call Coeur d’Alene police at (208) 769-2320.
