St. George’s Captures Third Place
St. George’s scored four first-half goals to beat Evergreen Lutheran 4-1 and claim the Class A/B boys soccer third place trophy.
Despite being outshot 16-10, St. George’s made their shots count to get the win at Auburn High School. The Dragons finish the season 18-1. Evergreen Lutheran finished 17-2.
Jamie Holte scored first for St. George’s 8 minutes into the game. St. George’s put the game away with a pair of goals within 1 minute, 40 seconds of each other. Mark Cooke’s goal midway through the first half put the Dragons up 2-0. Eric Johnson quickly followed with a goal to boost the lead to 3-0.
The Dragons’ Tom DePonty scored just 50 seconds before intermission. Luke Wiken scored Evergreen Lutheran’s lone goal.
