Chiefs Win 5-3; Cisar Nears Mark
Marian Cisar took another step toward rewriting the Chiefs’ record book by scoring in his eighth straight Western Hockey League game as Spokane overcame Edmonton 5-3 Friday night before 2,176 in the AgriCom.
Cisar, who has 13 goals, including seven in the last four games, can tie the record tonight when the Chiefs (6-3) wind up a four-game trip in Red Deer, Alberta.
Cisar’s goal, which proved to be the game-winner, came on a breakaway at 16:47 of the second period when he tucked a backhand shot past Ice goalie Garnet Stevenson.
Trent Whitfield’s first goal for Spokane ignited a five-goal second period after Edmonton (0-6-1) dominated the first. Perry Johnson, with family and friends cheering him on, Blake Evans, and Brad Ference also scored for Spokane.
Jay Henderson had two goals and an assist and Mike Green three assists for the Ice.
