Ioc Issues Warnings
Stockholm and Cape Town were warned by the IOC for possibly enticing voters who will vote for the site of the 2004 Olympics.
The reprimands came three days before the International Olympic Committee selects the 2004 host. The other candidates in Friday’s vote are Rome; Buenos Aires, Argentina; and Athens, Greece.
The Swedes were warned for organizing a recent visit to a furniture store in Stockholm for IOC members. Cape Town was scolded for allegedly offering to pay for the air fare of the spouses of African IOC members traveling to Lausanne.
