Log Onto ‘Steve.Oedekerk.Com’ For Humor
As the title suggests, “Steve.oedekerk.com,” appearing on NBC at 8, is a computer-generated comedy.
Oedekerk, who wrote and directed “Ace Ventura II: When Nature Calls,” appears in the flesh as well as digitalized in a series of vignettes in the hourlong program.
Some of the bits are short on byte.
But those fascinated by 3-D graphics and tilted humor will find reasons to stay logged on.
Highlights
“The Nanny,” CBS at 8: Pamela Anderson brought her minimal talents to this episode from May. She plays Fran’s (Fran Drescher) longtime nemesis Heather Biblow, who lands a role on “The Young and the Restless.”
Fran thinks she has the last laugh when Heather is fired and she gets the job.
“Coast to Coast,” CBS at 9: In a new segment, Vicki Mabrey visits an elephant sanctuary in, of all places, Howenwald, Tenn.
“Ellen,” ABC at 9: Worth enjoying again is the riotous and heartfelt “coming out” episode.
Laura Dern and Oprah Winfrey guest-star with cameos by Demi Moore, Billy Bob Thornton, k.d. lang, Melissa Etheridge and others.
“Dateline NBC,” NBC at 9: Are we in for a devastating winter? A report examines predictions that a Pacific weather system - an el nino - will severely upset weather patterns.
“48 Hours,” CBS at 10: From the producers of CBS’ Eye On People cable channel comes this disturbing inside look at Utah’s Rocky Mountain Militia. A team of journalists spent six weeks with the group, observing members as they braced for a confrontation with federal agents.
“PrimeTime Live,” ABC at 10: Judd Rose, who served up riveting coverage of the Jackie Onassis auction, covers the upcoming sell-off of personal possessions of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. Hard-hitting stuff, eh?
Cable Calls
“Elton John: Tantrums & Tiaras,” MAX at 8: In 1995, Elton John gave his partner, David Furnish, permission to film a documentary, and it’s a doozy.
The singer is shown at home and on the road, at the Oscars, the Brit Awards and vacationing (miserably) in the South of France. He reflects on his career and throws a few fits worthy of the title.
And wait till you see his clothes collection.
This is a fabulous 75 minutes of film.
