Actress Leaves Selleck Series
Penelope Ann Miller has left Tom Selleck’s ratings-troubled CBS sitcom “The Closer.”
In the series, which airs Monday at 9 p.m., Selleck plays the head of an advertising agency. Miller was the agency’s Ivy League-educated accountant.
“They couldn’t figure out what to do with the character,” said a source close to the show. “Rather than struggle with it, they mutually agreed to part ways.”
Miller appeared in five episodes.
After a strong debut, the show has lost 30 percent of its initial audience.
