Quick-Draw Practice Becomes Painful
A 31-year-old Post Falls man is recovering from a leg wound after shooting himself while practicing drawing a gun from his holster.
Richard J. Bassett had injured his right thigh Saturday afternoon when friends brought him to Kootenai Medical Center.
Bassett told sheriff’s deputies he and two friends were shooting at aluminum cans on a Forest Service road near Hayden Creek Road when they decided to practice quick-draw techniques. The .22-caliber revolver went off in his holster, according to a sheriff’s report.
