Carbo Files Lawsuit
Bernie Carbo sued major league baseball in federal court in San Francisco, claiming the sport and MCI illegally created a commercial of his home run in the 1975 World Series without his authorization.
Carbo, who sent Game 6 of the Series into extra innings with a three-run homer, sued the commissioner’s office, Major League Baseball Properties Inc., Major League Enterprises Inc. and Phoenix Communications Group Inc., which distributes old footage for major league baseball.
Carbo, who played in the majors from 1970-80, asked for monetary damages and an injunction to stop the commercial from being broadcast.
