Matt Westenfelder’s 3-1 decision over Paul Purcell at 168 pounds highlighted Lakeside’s 63-9 Great Northern League wrestling win over Riverside (1-1) at Nine Mile Falls Tuesday.

Adrian Laughery of Lakeside (2-0) defeated Craig Alexander 12-6 at 158. The Eagles’ Tim Weisser picked up a forfeit win at 122 when Joben Nuesse didn’t make weight, but Nuesse won their exhibition 7-2.

Also in the GNL, Justin Divis stayed unbeaten with an 8-7 decision over Jeff Racicot as Colville (2-0) beat visiting Medical Lake 44-24.

Colville’s Chris Lynds (168) improved to 15-0 with a technical fall. The Cardinals are 0-2.

Chewelah (1-1) defeated visiting Newport 35-27 to drop the Grizzlies to 0-2. The Cougars, protecting a 30-27 lead, clinched the meet with a technical fall at 101.

Lakeside-E.V. meet canceled

The scheduled match between defending state champions Lakeside of Nine Mile and East Valley on Thursday has been canceled. Lakeside has used its allotted 16 wrestling dates.
