Man Dupes Businesses With Tale Of Woe

From Staff And Wire Reports

Nearly two dozen Spokane County business owners have been duped by a man claiming to need money to have his car towed, police said.

The man enters businesses, claiming his car is broken down and he can’t reach relatives to get help. He identifies himself using a name that the business owners recognize and they in return have given him $50 each time, police said.

He has received about $1,200 so far, police said.

The man is described as white, in his mid-30s, about 6 feet tall with blond hair.
